An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Dismantling Energy Star Is a Direct Attack on Consumers

21 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

Shutting down the Energy Star program is reckless, wasteful, and indefensible. This program has saved Americans over $500 billion in energy costs since 1992 and prevented more than 4 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions (energystar.gov). It costs just $50 million a year to run—a fraction of the federal budget for a program that actually helps consumers and the climate. Trump’s move to dismantle Energy Star is not about efficiency. It’s part of a broader campaign to erase successful environmental policies and hand yet another win to corporate polluters. This decision will raise household energy bills, hurt manufacturers who rely on the Energy Star label, and stall progress on reducing emissions. This is political sabotage disguised as reform. I urge you to speak out and take immediate action to block the termination of Energy Star. Americans need leadership that protects their wallets, their environment, and their future—not one that burns it all down out of spite.
