The State Department’s law enforcement arm is now involved in immigration enforcement, an area solidly outside its usual duties. One source for Wired compares it to IRS agents investigating espionage at NASA. Despite flushing tens of billions of dollars down the toilet for ICE with the Big Ugly Bill, ICE still has to disrupt other law enforcement agencies.
