An open letter to the U.S. Congress

If DOGE Has Nothing to Hide, Why Seal the Records?

21 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

The Trump administration is now appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court to block a lawful FOIA request seeking records from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). If this agency is acting legally and transparently, why go to such lengths to keep its actions secret? Under Elon Musk’s or Amy Gleason’s leadership, DOGE has: • Fired thousands of federal employees, many without the agency’s approval. • Seized buildings and medical records from agencies like NOAA and NIH • Altered or deleted public-facing government information and websites • Claimed $170 billion in “savings” that remain unverified • Faced multiple lawsuits over privacy violations and data misuse DOGE was rebranded from the U.S. Digital Service and now exercises significant authority over federal operations. That makes it a federal agency under the law—subject to FOIA and public accountability. So I ask again: What are Trump, the Republican Party and DOGE hiding? And who in Congress will demand the truth?
