Musk has said he wants a shutdown, and reporting has shown he is already making plans to use the shutdown to expedite his destruction of key government programs and services. Shutdowns suck, but what we’re experiencing is something much much worse and now is the moment to stand against it or you’re abdicating your duty as an elected official. If you vote for this Funding Bill, you are complicit in all that DOGE, President Elon, and Trump does. This isn’t just about a temporary shutdown—it’s about handing Trump and Musk a blank check to dismantle what’s left. This is a slush funds bill that turns the government into a piggy bank for billionaires. Stopping or slowing entrenchment of Trump’s authoritarian agenda is what matters now. Like, right now. Today. It is actually very simple: What Trump and Musk are doing is worse than a shutdown. Sometimes if something isn’t working you have to turn it off and turn it back on again.
