An open letter to the U.S. Supreme Court

Safeguarding Democracy: Reject Consolidation of Power and Unaccountability

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

The president's remarks likening himself to royalty are highly concerning for our democratic system of government. America is a democracy where no single person holds absolute power or reigns as a monarch. The separation of powers and checks and balances are fundamental principles designed to prevent any branch from becoming too powerful. Referring to oneself as a "king" undermines these core democratic values and implies a dangerous disregard for the will of the people expressed through free and fair elections. We must remain vigilant in upholding democratic norms and institutions that have served our nation well for over two centuries. Any attempt to consolidate power at the expense of accountability to citizens should be firmly rejected.
