If you are still under the misimpression that the budget you pass, attempting to secure funding for the things that matter to you, to Iowa, to the country is the budget that will be enacted, then you aren't paying attention. Every day Musk's DOGE posts new cuts on their website. He jokes about little mistakes like cutting funding for ebola protection. Even with funding resto red through USAID, if it really was, without staff in the CDC to help coordinate response to outbreaks, the money doesn't matter. r anything that strikes him as wasteful or too "woke"? Do you really think that whatever priorities Congress puts into any budget bill will be the final outcome? When Musk can arbitrarily turn off funding fo How long before protecting our sick, our disabled, our hungry, our farmers gets labelled DEI and gets unfunded? Do you really think you will have a say? The courts have asked Musk to reverse decisions made in minutes to defund programs on USAID. This stay was decided weeks ago. They have taken it to the supreme court because it is somehow too difficult to undo in weeks, or days since the last ruling what was done in minutes. If they are ignoring the courts, do you really think you are protecting anything in the budget process? They will take what they want and not fund whate ver they decide to not fund. Medicare is not safe until Musk is resigned in.
