An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Brand New Year, Same Old Genocide - Have You Had Enough Yet?

Brand new year, same genocide — and any continued support for Israel, in any form, is completely unacceptable. This marks the third passage into a new year during Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, carried out with the full backing of the United States and funded by our tax dollars. There is no “Happy New Year” in Gaza. While members of Congress celebrate with family, warmth, clean water, abundant food, and the certainty of waking up tomorrow, Palestinians face bombardment, starvation, displacement, and death — with no such guarantees. Recent claims by President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu that Hamas has “agreed to disarm” are a deliberate distortion of reality. Reporting by Democracy Now and Drop Site News makes clear that disarmament was not agreed to, but instead referenced as a subject for future negotiations alongside ceasefire duration, withdrawals, prisoner exchanges, governance, and aid. Hamas has publicly rejected the claim that it agreed to disarm, while Israel has repeatedly violated the ceasefire through continued attacks and killings, as documented in recent reporting. The Trump–Netanyahu meeting was not about peace. It was a display of impunity, threats, and political theater meant to justify further violence and delay accountability — all while Gaza continues to bleed. Let me be unequivocal: any financial, military, or political support for Israel is a betrayal of your constituents and your oath of office. There are no excuses left. No amount of rhetoric can obscure the reality of mass civilian death, starvation, and destruction carried out with U.S. backing. As your constituent, I demand: • An immediate end to all U.S. military aid and arms transfers to Israel • An end to political cover and diplomatic shielding • Public support for accountability under international law And let me be equally clear about the political consequences: we have not forgotten, and we will not vote for members of Congress who have supported this genocide. Your record will follow you. To those members of Congress who have refused to support Israel, opposed arms transfers, and spoken out against these atrocities: thank you. You have our votes, our respect, and our continued support. History will remember who stood on the side of humanity — and who did not.
