I’ve regularly written you in the interest of preserving the civil discourse of our political system. In a healthy system, one that Senator Tillis, at the very least, has participated in for many years, where elected representatives actually act in the best interests of their constituents.
There has been no evidence of leadership preserving that social contract under this administration.
With a national approval rating of 8%, no representative can claim the Big Beautiful Bill represents the interests of Americans other than the wealthy.
Even modified, the bill is still full of provisions that will negatively impact most Americans.
On top of effectively murdering millions of Americans on scales that surpass the Holocaust, the bill is still chocked full of evil initiatives that allow our government to extra-judiciously incarcerate the ones that survive your policies.
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:
- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.
Why should we raise the national deficit 4 Trillion dollars to allow ICE to build more concentration camps with less oversight while the President declares war on who he considers to be a citizen?
This bill is a declaration of war on Americans and your constituents.
