Prioritize and Support Cancer Education and Research

I am deeply concerned about the potential implications of changes across U.S. federal agencies and departments, impacting all stakeholders in cancer research and education, as reported in recent news coverage. As a cancer education professional dedicated to advancing evidence-based cancer education, research, and public health initiatives on domestic and global fronts, I recognize the critical role that these agencies play in funding, policy development, and support for the scientific and public health workforce. Disruptions within Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and USAID could have significant consequences for cancer education, prevention, screening, treatment access, and research funding—areas that directly impact my work and the communities I serve. I would like to urge the U.S. government to prioritize cancer research and education and evidence-based decision-making, uphold scientific integrity, and ensure that public health initiatives remain free from political interference.
