Oppose DOGE Ally Frank Bisignano as Social Security Commissioner

The Senate Finance Committee held hearings on the nomination of Wall Street executive Frank Bisignano to lead the Social Security Administration (SSA). Bisignano has described himself as “fundamentally a DOGE person" and stated that his priority will be to use A.I. to hunt for the so-called “fraud” in the system that Elon Musk and Trump are fixated on. This has been identified as false by industry experts. Democratic lawmakers are concerned that DOGE’s goal is to cause the SSA to fail, paving the way for privatization of the system. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), who sits on the Senate Finance Committee, and Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), wrote a letter stating, “We are gravely concerned about the current trajectory of the SSA, and more specifically, that those charged with leading it might profit off its destruction.” They raised concerns about DOGE-led changes that would “deprive Americans of Social Security benefits they earned and need.” Bisignano’s confirmation would put the lives and financial stability of 73 million Americans who currently receive monthly retirement, survivor, and disability payments at risk. AARP leaders say their members are terrified of the potential failure of a system that is already in chaos. It is critical that the committee reject Bisigano’s nomination and the destruction of the functioning of the SSA.
