An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Protect IRS resources to combat tax evasion fairly

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

The IRS managed to collect over $1.3 billion in back taxes from wealthy tax evaders by the end of 2024, demonstrating its critical role in ensuring everyone pays their fair share. Laying off around 7,000 probationary workers, many from compliance departments, could severely undermine the agency's ability to continue cracking down on tax evasion and recover unpaid taxes owed to the government. A strong and well-resourced IRS is essential for upholding tax laws fairly and maintaining the integrity of the nation's tax system. Weakening the IRS will only benefit those seeking to illegally avoid their tax obligations at the expense of compliant taxpayers and public funding for vital services.
