An open letter to the U.S. Congress

No More Backroom Deals: Demand a Vote on Iran

36 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

I am writing to demand that you immediately assert your constitutional authority and halt the administration's unauthorized military operations in Iran. It is entirely unacceptable that the executive branch has bypassed Congress to plunge us into a conflict that is costing taxpayers nearly $1 billion a day, already nearing $30 billion in a single month without legislative approval. Furthermore, the administration's decision to divert weapons and funding meant for Ukraine to the Middle East, while simultaneously easing sanctions on Russia and Belarus, is a dangerous abandonment of our democratic allies. We cannot allow American foreign policy and military assets to be dictated by the whims and interests of foreign leaders. I expect you to demand public hearings, block the administration's requested $200 billion in funding for this unconstitutional Iran operation, and force compliance with the War Powers Resolution. Do your job, hold the executive branch accountable, and put an end to this unchecked and disastrous military adventurism.
