The negotiated ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah stipulated a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon within 60 days. This deadline is rapidly approaching, yet there are concerns that the implementation has not progressed quickly enough. While some areas have seen Lebanese forces and UN peacekeepers take over from Hezbollah as intended, other regions may still have an Israeli military presence after the deadline. The Trump administration negotiators must urge Israel to complete its withdrawal from all parts of southern Lebanon by the agreed upon date without any extension or exceptions. A failure by Israel to fully withdraw its troops on time could derail the entire ceasefire process and reignite hostilities. Maintaining foreign forces in Lebanon against the terms would be an unacceptable violation that undermines Lebanese sovereignty and the good faith efforts to resolve the conflict diplomatically. To preserve stability and respect Lebanon's territorial integrity, it is imperative that the Trump administration make clear to Israel the necessity of adhering to the ceasefire deal for a full troop pullout.
