An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives
Are you Crazy! My Opposition to Selling U.S. Citizenship!
49 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!
I am writing to express my extreme opposition to the proposal announced by former President Donald Trump to sell a so-called “gold card” that would grant wealthy foreigners the right to live and work in the U.S., along with a path to citizenship, in exchange for a $5 million fee. This is not what America stands for and not what we want.
U.S. citizenship is not a commodity to be bought and sold to the highest bidder. It is an earned privilege that should be based on merit, commitment to our nation’s values, and contributions to society—not simply financial status. This proposal undermines the very foundation of American democracy by allowing the ultra-wealthy to bypass the rigorous immigration process that millions of hardworking individuals and families must follow.
Replacing the EB-5 immigrant investor visa program with a pay-to-play system that prioritizes wealth over merit is a blatant attempt to commercialize our nation’s identity. Furthermore, the suggestion that Russian oligarchs and other foreign elites could buy their way into American residency raises serious national security concerns.
I urge you to stand firmly against this policy and to advocate for an immigration system that remains fair, just, and reflective of the principles upon which our nation was built. Please take action to prevent the exploitation of American citizenship as a transactional privilege for the rich.
I need you to stand up and start protecting the integrity of our immigration system. I want a response and town hall date set. I need to see a decisive action taken against this deeply troubling proposal against the values that America stands for.
