I’ve heard and read statements from you intimating that you believe Israel is the strongest ally of the United States. As one of your constituents, I want you to know I do not view Israel as our strongest ally. It appears to me that Israel and it’s authoritarian leader, Mr Netanyahu Are one of America’s biggest grifters, I.e., Israel gets enormous aid from the US, both financially and in the form of constant, flattering statements from many of the members of Congress. I’m fine with President Biden doing what he has to do to keep Israel as a stabilizing influence in the Middle East, but I don’t think you should be pontificating on what a strong ally Israel is to the US. While your office usually responds to letters I’ve written to you in the past with the same vacuous GOP fantasies about what a strong ally Israel is, this time I’d like you to ask a staff member to lay out your argument for these flattering utterances about Israel and Netanyahu What Israel is doing to the population of Gaza is a war crime in my opinion. I understand and support Israel’s right to self-defense, but what they have been doing for the past 100 days amounts to genocide in my opinion. I’m not the only person who sees it this way. Israel is using food and water as a weapon of war against people who cannot be identified as members of Hamas. It is apparent from publicly available information that nearly 24,000 Palestinians have been killed in the past 100 days. It is incomprehensible to me that Israel believes they can say the bulk of those people are Hamas fighters. That claim is absurd. Israel, Netanyahu and the Defense Minister of Israel have all stated publicly that they will destroy Hamas. This is s fantasy of colossal proportions. I’m not a Hamas supporter by any means, but Israel’s response to the terrible killings by Hamas fighters in early January is orders of magnitude beyond being proportional with the killings committed by Hamas. I’m convinced Israel will most likely foster a desire to rebuild Hamas and to inflict even more damage in the future. Killing 24,000+ Palestinians will sow hatred and a desire for revenge among the Palestians the likes of which Israel has never seen. I’ll patiently wait for your explanation about how you believe Israel is a strong (if not the strongest) ally of the US. Meanwhile, I encourage you to pass a budget, fix the broken immigation system, and fund the brave Ukrainian fighters who are protecting their country from Putin’s onslaught of evil. Don’t tie border funding to support for Ukraine. That position is akin to cutting off your nose to spite your face!
