Oppose attacks on Free Speech, Oppose KOSA and the repeal of Section 230

After the disastrous implementation of the UK's Online Safety Act, it is clear that these identity verification and internet censorship bills are flawed at their core. Bills like KOSA and TAKE IT DOWN are well meaning, but good intentions do not make good policy. Jonathan Haidt's misinformation about teen health and the efficacy of internet censorship has misled our leaders into creating dangerous authoritarian censorship bills worldwide. Human rights organizations and technology experts agree that KOSA and bills like it do nothing to protect children and only harm the most marginalized in our societies. Congress must oppose any and all attempts to repeal Section 230 and oppose KOSA and similar bills. Experts at many organizations, like the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the ACLU, agree that Congress must abandon these censorship bills and instead focus on increasing privacy, stop data collection and sale, break up monopolies and enforce anti-trust laws, and invest in local community-based programs to support children and teens. KOSA and its ilk do not protect anyone and in fact increase danger for everyone. End data breaches and protect the First Amendment online. Oppose KOSA and the repeal of Section 230.
