The newly confirmed Treasury Secretary apparently handed Elon Musk and/or his DOGE organization access to all government payment systems - for civil servant salaries, contractors, benefits, everything. Musk isn’t an elected official, a civil servant, or in a Senate-confirmed position. This is an insider attack where a high-ranking official gave a malicious actor access to the Treasury.
This is as bad as the “pause” on federal funding and grants and you should act accordingly. Don’t let any normal business continue on Congress until Musk is shut out. And on confirmation hearings, consider whether Trump’s appointees will also hand everything over to Musk.
