Protect Minority Voting Rights: Support Fair Redistricting in Texas

I am writing to express my deep concern over the ongoing redistricting lawsuit, LULAC v. Abbott, challenging Texas' 2021 and 2025 congressional redistricting plans. As your constituent, I urge you to support fair redistricting that protects the voting rights of all Texans, particularly our Latino and minority communities.
The 2025 mid-decade congressional map enacted by Texas is deeply troubling. It has been alleged to intentionally dilute minority voting power and dismantle majority-minority districts, specifically Congressional Districts 9, 18, 29, and 33. This action appears to violate both the Voting Rights Act and the 14th and 15th Amendments to the Constitution.
The lawsuit, filed by pro-voting groups and Texas voters, argues that these redistricting plans deliberately weaken Latino voting strength. This is not just a matter of lines on a map; it's about ensuring that every Texan's voice is heard and fairly represented in our democracy.
On August 27, 2025, there will be a status conference on the motion for a preliminary injunction hearing. I implore you to closely monitor this case and use your influence to support a fair and just resolution. The integrity of our electoral system and the rights of minority voters are at stake.
It's worth noting that the Department of Justice was previously involved in this case but dropped its claims in March 2025. This makes it even more crucial for our elected officials to step up and defend the voting rights of all constituents.
I ask that you publicly speak out against racial gerrymandering, support efforts to block the implementation of the 2025 map, and work towards ensuring that any redistricting plan in Texas fully complies with the Voting Rights Act and constitutional protections.
Our democracy is strongest when all voices are heard. Please stand up for fair representation and the protection of minority voting rights in Texas.
