Ensuring Order and Accountability in Musk’s DOGE Operations.

Elon Musk’s actions have challenged U.S. democratic governance by consolidating power, reducing transparency, and weakening institutional safeguards in favor of placing power and accountability beyond the public. This has transpired in a few key ways: * Bypassing norms, ethics, and possibly laws: Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency or DOGE (which so happens is the title of the despots that ruled Venice and Genoa for more than 1,000 years) is not a real government agency which would require an act of Congress to make legitimate (ArtII.S2.C2.3.6). He has not reduced government bureaucracy but instead is privatizing it. This must be stopped. Musk and his associates, many drawn from his professional orbit and Silicon Valley’s neo-reactionary (NRx) and Network State movements, are eroding traditional government practices, often without usual vetting and hiring practices, at an alarming opacity, speed, and scale. In the process, they are possibly violating a number of laws such as the E-Government Act of 2002, Hatch Act, Federal Vacancies Reform Act, Whistleblower Protection Act, Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, among potentially others. * Treasury Department infiltration: Musk has gained read-write access to the source code for the heart of the government’s payment system. The Bureau of the Fiscal Service’s Secure Payment System processes 88% of government disbursements and houses sensitive data. Possible impoundments at this level violate minimum standards for due process of law. It subverts Congresses’ constitutional check on other branches by means of the power of the purse, and stopping payments here would sever the continuity and reliability of government. The timing could also not be worse; the debt limit has surpassed, and we are 37 days away from a possible default. * Potential Buyout of TikTok: The mandated divestment of TikTok has been delayed, with reported Chinese interest in Musk as a buyer. If successful, he would control not just X (formerly Twitter) but also the largest platform shaping youth political discourse — further concentrating his influence over public opinion. Furthermore, his inextricable entanglements in government — the foundation for his wealth has been government contracts — raise the specter of state-crafted media. In essence, Musk is not streamlining government but reconfiguring it from within into a privatized regime where he dictates the flow of information and wields unchecked influence over the machinery of the state. Please take any and all legal actions you can to bring order, fairness, and accountability; and above all, preserve the integrity of the U.S. Constitution and a “Government of the people, for the people, and by the people.”
