Fiscal Reform for Debt Reduction and Economic Fairness

I am writing to urge your office to champion comprehensive fiscal reforms that simultaneously reduce the national debt and advance economic equality. Historical precedent from the 1950s through the 1970s proves that taxing corporations and top earners at fairer, higher rates actively builds a robust middle class while stabilizing the federal budget.
To secure an equitable and sustainable economic future, we must act on these key pillars:
• Social Security Solvency and Fairness: Eliminate the taxable earnings cap on the payroll tax. The payout structure must be progressively adjusted to protect low- and middle-income retirees while scaling back benefits for high-net-worth individuals, preserving the system as a tool against elderly poverty.
• Progressive Revenue: Reverse the unsustainable tax cuts for corporations and the top 1% and 0.1%. Restoring historic marginal rates generates the revenue necessary to shrink the deficit while directly reducing extreme wealth concentration.
• Employer Accountability: Implement a benefits penalty on large corporations whose workers rely on public assistance (like Medicaid or SNAP) due to low wages. This penalty raises vital revenue for debt reduction while fundamentally countering income inequality by forcing corporations to pay living wages.
• Closing Financial Loopholes: Close sophisticated tax avoidance mechanisms, specifically eliminating ETF conversion loopholes and "heartbeat trades" that allow institutional funds to shield massive capital gains, ensuring the wealthy pay their fair share.
• DOD Accountability: Combat Department of Defense waste driven by corporate capture. Capping defense contractor profits and ending inflated sole-source contracts will curb unnecessary federal spending and redirect resources toward public good.
True fiscal responsibility requires raising revenues equitably and cutting corporate waste to drive down the deficit while actively lifting the middle class. Thank you for your leadership and consideration of these critical reforms.
