An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures

Reject data centers to protect Chesapeake Bay ecosystem

3 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Large data centers have significant environmental impacts, particularly on air and water quality. Their immense energy demands strain local utility grids and often rely on polluting backup generators. Additionally, the construction and disposal of electronic waste associated with data centers contributes to environmental degradation. Given Maryland's vulnerability to climate change impacts like sea level rise and the ecological importance of the Chesapeake Bay, approving new data center projects in the state poses substantial risks. I urge you to reject proposals for data centers near the Chesapeake Bay watershed to protect this vital natural resource and Maryland's environmental health.
