Condemn firing of FBI agents investigating January 6th

It is alarming and concerning that the Trump administration has ordered the firing of career FBI officials who were simply doing their jobs investigating the January 6th Capitol riot cases. This appears to be blatant political retaliation and an abuse of power. Federal employees have legal protections and due process rights that should prevent them from being arbitrarily terminated for carrying out their lawful duties. The attempt to purge dedicated public servants from the FBI, including by demanding a list of all agents involved in these investigations, threatens to undermine the independence and integrity of law enforcement. Firing those who uphold the rule of law and pursue accountability for violent crimes is unacceptable. It sends a chilling message that carrying out important work could lead to retaliation. This disturbing overreach by the administration must be firmly resisted in order to protect the FBI's ability to conduct investigations free from political interference or intimidation. Every American should be alarmed by these authoritarian tactics that appear aimed at obstructing justice. Upholding our democratic system of laws requires taking a stand against the unjust termination of civil servants simply for doing their jobs honorably.
