The immigration issue being laid at the feet of our current administration by House Republicans is nothing more than a red herring and should be ignored for now. The real issue is obviously Speaker McCarthy’s lack of leadership in the House and his consummate inability to reign in the hard right wing of his party who are capitalizing on the situation merely for the publicity they get from their shenanigans. Stay the course and don’t let them hijack the budget to promote their own agenda. Sadly, it may mean that a government shutdown will be inevitable but we must be clear in demonstrating that a shutdown is a direct result of their own actions, or lack thereof. Ultimately we need to prevent the Freedom Caucus from dictating policy for the entire American people. Their views and opinions Do NOT represent the best interests of our country and, in fact, will damage the integrity of it if allowed to proliferate unchecked. The only people who really care about what they say are so out of touch with reality that it should scare us.
