An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives
Hold Town Halls for Republican Districts & Government Workers Laid Off
70 so far! Help us get to 100 signers!
Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to continue the practice that some Representatives have already used to communicate with people in Republican districts.
Please expand Town Halls to locations accessible to these badly served districts, so that a real counter-narrative can be heard to the flood of lies. It’s obvious that you’d be a better ambassador to them than their own Representative, even if they can’t vote in your district. Many of these districts are in information deserts with regard to real journalistic reports, or lack the means to trusted information. I’ve read many posts on social media that they only get propaganda parroted to them by their Representatives.
In addition to citizen town halls, I also urge you to hold special town halls just for government workers that have lost their jobs. I also applaud the practice of holding hearings with these workers in Washington to hear the real human stories of how lives and careers are being destroyed by this administration.
As part of the Democratic strategy of Communication, this must be done to break through the static and mobilize all Americans to oppose what is happening to our government, our schools, our health care, our social safety net, and the equality and rights we have under the law. Thank you and your staff for your service.
