Outlawing reproductive medicine has never actually eliminated eliminated abortion. Not even pre-Roe v Wade.
Outlawing simply forces providers and those seeking care into unsafe situations. This appears to be a theme with issues that disproportionately impact women -- laws intended to end sex work, for example, only end *safer* sex work. If the goal is to "end abortion," the answer is not forced birth. The answer is rooted in everything from better education to realistic time off to access to birth control--all things forced birth advocates fail to address.
Forced birth is not the wholesome answer it is presented to be. For this and many other reasons I am writing a letter a day until we end forced birth by writing reproductive freedom into law.
