This must include early intervention programs in schools and communities, accessible counseling and psychiatric care for young men showing warning signs, crisis intervention teams trained to identify and address violent ideation, and research into the specific factors driving this demographic toward mass violence. Simultaneously, we must enact common sense gun control measures now. Universal background checks, red flag laws, safe storage requirements, and restrictions on high-capacity magazines are supported by the majority of Americans. These are not radical proposals. They are the bare minimum response to a crisis that claims lives every single day. Students should be able to attend school without fear. Families should be able to gather without terror. Communities should be able to exist without tragedy. We have the resources and the knowledge to prevent these deaths. What we lack is the political will to prioritize human lives over ideology.
