A government that prioritizes convenience over humane standards risks its own legitimacy and the public’s trust in the legal system. 3. Humane Standards: If the federal government is to carry out capital punishment, it must utilize only the most humane and effective methods available. Administrative convenience or a desire for "speed" never justifies the use of cruel methods. I urge you to oppose the use of firing squads and gas chambers and to support legislation that ensures federal justice remains humane and aligned with modern standards. Our nation’s strength should be measured by our commitment to justice and human rights, not by the harshness of our punishments.
