An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives
Stop spreading lies. Start negotiating a real bi-partisan cr with dems.

On September 29, 2025, your office wrote: “On September 19th, the House passed a clean, non-partisan continuing resolution that temporarily extends funding through November 21st and will give us the time we need to properly fund the government through appropriations. However, Democrats in the Senate have responded with partisan demands for egregious federal spending to stall final passage of the CR.
I want the chance to continue with our vital work in funding the government.
This work can continue, but not if Senator Schumer and his fellow Democrats continue to attempt to hold the government hostage. The version of the continuing resolution that Republicans passed through the House and proposed in the Senate is one that Democrats have previously voted for under Biden. This attempt to extract billions more dollars of partisan spending is disingenuous and irresponsible, and if the government shuts down, Senator Schumer and his Democrats will bear the responsibility. “
1. I’m not sure why you think the bill passed in the house was non partisan. It is clearly a republican bill, with 2 republicans voting no and 1 democrat voting yes.
2. You call it a clean bill, but it is clearly not. Your bill does not extend the ACA tax credits, and if these credits are not extended now, it will be too late for insurers to offer lower premiums for plans purchased for 2026. Americans will see huge increases in the cost of health insurance. Will you give up your government funded health plan to buy something on the marketplace like the rest of us?
3. Democrats are not “holding the government hostage.” Schumer and Jeffries demanded a meeting with President Trump himself because GOP congressional leadership refused to even talk with Democrats. Republicans have control of the House, the Senate, and the White House. This shut down is on you.
The path forward is a true bipartisan bill that keeps the government open and addresses the health care crisis Republicans have created through their recent deep cuts to Medicaid, and their refusal to protect health insurance related tax credits which will very soon result in a rise in health insurance premiums.
