Support the Adequate and Equitable Public University Funding Act

I am reaching out as a member of the Northeastern Illinois University community. I urge you to please support the passage of the Adequate and Equitable Public University Funding Act (SB13/HB1581) to strengthen support for Illinois’ public universities. Northeastern Illinois University is the most underfunded public university in the state. This leads to consistent staffing shortages and insufficient funds for much needed infrastructure repairs and improvements to keep our students and employees safe. In spite of these shortfalls, Northeastern provides the most highly-ranked Student Experience in Illinois, according to the Wall Street Journal’s “Best Colleges” guide. Our students and employees work hard and are committed to making a positive impact in Illinois — everywhere from classrooms to boardrooms and everywhere in between. Therefore, I respectfully request that you fully support the Adequate and Equitable Public University Funding Act (SB13/HB1581) so Northeastern Illinois University can continue to fulfill its mission of providing an exceptional environment for learning, teaching, and scholarship by preparing a diverse community of students for leadership and service in our region and in our dynamic multicultural world.
