Congressional Staff & Interns: When Was America Great Again?

This message is to congressional staff and interns. America was once the star on the world stage. Its constitution was the envy of the world. We had free and fair elections and peaceful transitions of power. Our economy kicked ass. We were the most free nation in the world. We respected the rule of law, protected human rights, and had a stable market economy. Today America is an illiberal state. Our checks and balances are in collapse. Foreign investment is avoiding us. The independence of the judiciary and media are no longer guaranteed. Civil society is under attack. Political prosecutions and rigged elections are becoming credible. Minorities are under attack. One political party has taken institutional control and is digging in for the long haul. The rotation of political power is insecure. Constitutional avenues for peaceful transition are being blocked. Millions are marching in the streets. The international community has noticed. And the party in total control denies the validity of all criticism and demonizes, jails, and deports its critics.
