I am writing to you today as a constituent who is scared each day turning on the news. I am writing to tell you that as an American citizen, I am disappointed to see the direction this country is moving in.
America claims to be a proud beacon of freedom and democracy. The current, conservative government claims to want a small government that's not as involved in the daily lives of its citizens. Yet, it has used executive orders, a power which ignores the checks and balances of the three branches, to pass laws limiting personal freedoms, from the right to women's health, to the right to gender affirming treatment, to the right to freedom of press.
It has used that same power to refuse to disperse congressional appropriated funds by cancelling subsidies to farmers who feed us, grants to support federal cancer research. The current administration has removed beneficial departments such as the CDC which helps keep America healthy, NOAA and FEMA, which provide advance warning of weather disasters and relief once it happens to Americans, the CDPB, which
has saved 17.5 BILLION dollars for the American people, and countless other departments that serve Americans through productive use of taxpayer money.
As my representative, how are you going to restore my freedoms and return my benefits? I want my taxes going to the programs above, not to Elon Musk and DOGE. I want my scientists to be looking into climate change and science, not being fired to make room for more tax cuts for the wealthy.
As your constituent, I am asking that the checks and balances be restored and federal, bipartisan appropriated funds be protected. Do your duty. Stop the illegal EOs.
