Pass the NY Health Act

A comprehensive, independent assessment by the RAND Corporation confirmed that the New York Health Act would achieve universal coverage including all currently uninsured residents without increasing overall health spending. ​The study outlines two major financial benefits: -​ Statewide and System Savings: By eliminating commercial insurance waste, reducing provider billing burdens, and leveraging bulk-purchasing power for prescription drugs, overall healthcare spending in New York is projected to drop. The RAND model estimates that statewide health spending would be 3% lower by 2031 compared to the status quo, yielding $15 billion in annual systemic savings. - ​Household and Employer Savings: Under the Act, regressive commercial premiums, deductibles, copays, and out-of-pocket costs are entirely eliminated, replaced by a progressive payroll tax.
