An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Cuts to OSHA & NIOSH Will Cost Lives - Act Now

22 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

I strongly oppose the budget cuts to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). These agencies are essential for protecting workers from deadly but preventable diseases like silicosis, caused by inhaling silica dust in industries like construction and mining. Recent reports show NIOSH staffing has been cut by over 90%, impeding its ability to research workplace safety (The Atlantic, May 2025). OSHA is facing a $95 million reduction, threatening inspections and enforcement of life-saving standards. These cuts directly endanger American workers. This is not strategic governance—it’s dangerous neglect. I urge you to immediately restore full funding to NIOSH and OSHA and reject any policy that compromises worker safety.
