I’m writing to urge the Senator to oppose the nomination of Josh Divine to serve as District Judge for the Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri. Mr. Divine has an alarming record that shows he is deeply out of step with the rights and freedoms Americans rely on—especially when it comes to reproductive healthcare.
He has publicly supported fetal personhood, which would open the door to banning abortion nationwide and restricting access to IVF, contraception, and even routine OB-GYN care. These are extreme views that go far beyond mainstream legal thought and could directly impact the lives and rights of millions of Americans if he’s confirmed to a lifetime position on the federal bench.
The Senate has the power—and the responsibility—to stop this dangerous nomination and help safeguard the future of reproductive freedom in this country. Please be a part of that protection.
Additionally, I’m urging the Senator to support the full restoration of funding to NOAA and FEMA, especially for the National Weather Service. Communities across the country—including in Missouri—are facing increasingly severe floods, tornadoes, and heatwaves. Yet critical forecast and emergency response positions remain vacant due to past funding cuts.
In recent disasters, like the tragic floods in Texas, lives were lost and property destroyed in part because early warning systems and emergency response capacity were stretched too thin. That’s not just a failure of infrastructure—it’s a failure of leadership. Fully funding NOAA and FEMA is a direct investment in public safety.
This is a moment where the Senator can stand on the right side of history—by rejecting extremism on the courts and by strengthening the government’s ability to protect people from the rising threat of climate disasters.
Thank you so much for your time, and I hope the Senator will rise to meet this moment.
