Reverse NIH Cuts

I was shocked and dismayed to read in the NYT that the Trump Administration has decided to cut $9 billion of federal research grants for Alzheimer's and cancer research. I strongly believe this is going to hurt your own constituents deeply. We rely on research to help our own family members deal with these life-threatening diseases. An estimated 6.7 million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer's dementia today. These terrible numbers are going to only increase. The burden on families is already enormous. Cancer is still the number two killer of Americans. Let us please not forget that we all know people who suffer from cancer and live every day hoping for a cure. Why would you want to dismantle people's hope? I am hoping you do the right thing. Stop this chaos, and remember to help your constituents who need you to take care of them.
