Prioritize Residents Over AI Data Centers: Act on Electricity Grid Strain

I’m a concerned Pennsylvanian urging you to act swiftly on the growing electricity strain from AI data centers. As WHYY reported, regions like the Delaware Valley are already impacted, and experts warn of possible summer outages — all while residents face extreme heat, rising costs, and economic pressure.
The PUC’s hearings were a good start, but we need stronger action. Please:
- Pause new data center approvals until a proper energy impact framework is in place
- Regulate or tax large-scale AI electricity use to fund grid upgrades
- Require renewable energy offsets and demand-balancing
- Ensure public transparency on data center energy use
Pennsylvanians should not suffer blackouts so Big Tech can thrive unchecked. My vote depends on bold, people-first leadership. I urge you to act now.
