Stop mid-cycle redistricting and start serving your constituents

I am writing as a concerned Indiana resident to express my strong opposition to the proposal for mid-term redistricting. It is frustrating and frankly infuriating to see our elected officials consider manipulating district maps for partisan gain rather than focusing on the needs of the people they were elected to serve. Indiana’s current discussion around redistricting gives the impression that political advantage, not public service, is the priority. Redrawing maps mid-cycle solely to secure more seats for one party undermines the integrity of our elections and weakens public trust in state leadership. Gerrymandering—regardless of which party benefits—erodes the foundation of representative government. Instead of reshaping districts to protect political power, I urge you to dedicate your time and energy to addressing the real issues impacting Hoosiers every day. Our communities need effective governance, responsive public services, and leaders who are willing to engage with all constituents, not just those within carefully engineered districts. Public officials earn trust by demonstrating independence, accountability, and a commitment to the people they represent. Aligning political decisions with national factions or personalities does not serve Indiana’s interests. Showing leadership that prioritizes the well-being of Hoosiers over partisan pressure would go much further in securing my support—and the support of many others who want genuine representation, not political gamesmanship. I am asking you, as my elected representatives, to reject any mid-term redistricting efforts intended to secure partisan advantage. Focus instead on policies and actions that strengthen Indiana, support our communities, and uphold the democratic principles you were elected to protect.
