Congress: Support/Co-Sponsor the Price Gouging Prevention Act of 2025

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge your immediate support for the Price Gouging Prevention Act of 2025 House and Senate versions, to rein in unchecked corporate greed and protect American families from exorbitant prices. In our capitalist, consumer-based economy, we want fairness, but get only higher prices. Some inflation is justified, but price gouging is a real thing, and carried out by all kinds of industry to protect their wealthy shareholders stock prices and shield their companies from bad earnings reports. It’d a game we are not allowed to say anything about, and it’s only getting worse under Trump. President Trump's reckless trade wars and tariff policies have given big corporations cover to excessively raise prices on everyday goods and services, squeezing consumers' wallets. The kitchen table issues are all at the hands of the corporations. They must be reined in. They’re are not going to do it themselves. Reports from companies themselves point to tariffs as the problem. This legislation grants the FTC and state attorneys general much-needed authority to crack down on dominant companies exploiting market disruptions to gouge customers with unjustified price hikes. The anti-price gouging bill would require companies with over $100 million in revenue to publicly report in Securities and Exchange Commission filings on any changes in pricing that exceed the average price in the past 120 days before the reporting period, and provide details on product costs and margins. Businesses with less than $100 million in revenue would be protected from price gouging litigation if they show legitimate cost increases. With inflation surging on many goods and foodstuffs, we cannot allow monopolistic businesses to gouge for profit at the expense of working families. Congress must stand up for the people over corporate profits by swiftly enacting this commonsense anti-price gouging measure. Therefore I urge you to support and co-sign the new Price Gouging Prevention Act. Thank you for your attention to this serious matter.
