Co-Sponsor the Broadcast Freedom and Independence Act

A free and independent press is foundational to our democracy – allowing people to find information they can trust and speak truth to power. And it's a cornerstone of our Constitution. That's why I'm asking you to co-sponsor the Broadcast Freedom and Independence Act and protect our free press. Right now, attacks on our freedom of speech and free press are at an all-time high – from baseless investigations into the news media to censorship of individuals for comments the FCC doesn't like. It's unacceptable. This bill would put critical measures in place to block the FCC from retaliating against broadcasters based on their viewpoint. Right now, companies can feel coerced into toeing the line to get favorable treatment in mergers – or to avoid disfavorable treatment, like threats to their licensing or authorization. No administration should be allowed to control the media and censor viewpoints it disagrees with. I hope you'll support a free press by co-sponsoring the Broadcast Freedom and Independence Act.
