An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Your Duty: Stop Social Security Cuts & Protect Americans Now!

22 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

I am writing to urge you to take a strong stand against proposed staffing cuts and restrictive policies that threaten the integrity of the Social Security Administration (SSA). Social Security is not just another government program—it is a commitment, a contract, and a pillar of American strength. Defending it is not only fiscally responsible but a moral duty. The proposed 12% reduction in SSA staff (7,000 jobs) and closure of six out of ten regional offices will not streamline government; it will create bureaucratic gridlock, delay essential benefits, and place unnecessary burdens on seniors, veterans, and hardworking Americans who rely on the benefits they earned. These cuts do not reduce waste—they punish those who built this country. (Sources: NPR, American Progress) Additionally, the in-person verification mandate disproportionately harms rural Americans, disabled veterans, and seniors, making it harder for them to access the benefits they paid into for decades. This policy does not curb fraud—it creates unnecessary barriers and inefficiencies. (Source: AP News) If enacted, these policies will have devastating consequences, including: • Housing Instability – Delayed benefits could lead to evictions and foreclosures. • Health Risks – Missed medications and medical care will drive up healthcare costs. • Food Insecurity – Seniors will be forced to choose between groceries and essentials. Social Security is not welfare—it is an earned benefit, a cornerstone of financial security for those who contributed to this nation through service, work, and sacrifice. Undermining it does not reflect conservative values of responsibility, honor, and commitment to American families. As a leader, you have the opportunity to stand for what is right. I urge you to: 1 Publicly oppose SSA staffing cuts and office closures that weaken service efficiency. 2 Reject in-person verification mandates that impose undue burdens on vulnerable citizens. 3 Make a firm, public commitment to protecting Social Security without compromise. A nation’s strength is reflected in how it treats its seniors, veterans, and workers. Defending Social Security is not just a policy decision—it is a patriotic duty. The question before you is simple: Will you stand for the people who built this country, or will you allow them to suffer the consequences of avoidable bureaucratic failures? I look forward to your response.
