Secretary Pete Hegseth’s reckless overhaul of military leadership is making America less safe. Cutting 20% of active-duty four-star officers and 10% of all generals and admirals, without proper consultation, guts the command structure needed to respond to global threats (AP News, May 2025). These are not bloated bureaucrats—they are the strategic backbone of our national defense.
Hegseth also dismantled programs that reduce civilian harm in conflict zones, like the Civilian Protection Center of Excellence and other oversight efforts (Washington Post, March 2025). This move abandons both U.S. moral responsibility and operational effectiveness. Civilian protection isn’t a talking point—it’s a core part of credible military leadership.
Worse, Hegseth has endangered national security through poor judgment and possible misconduct. He shared sensitive information via unsecured channels (The Guardian, May 2025), and he halted arms shipments to Ukraine without authorization, disrupting critical support and costing millions (The Guardian, May 2025).
Congress must act now. Investigate Hegseth’s decisions and stop the politicization and degradation of our military. Americans deserve a defense department that puts safety and strategy ahead of ego and ideology.
