OPPOSE Ohio Senate Bill 34

I am writing to OPPOSE Ohio Senate Bill 34 which would require all Ohio schools to display a STATE APPROVED historical document in every classroom. The fact that the Ten Commandments is listed as one of the documents is an overt attempt at making Ohio schools CHRISTIAN schools. We are not a Christian nation or a Christian state. We are founded upon the ideas of religious freedom. No child should be forced to adhere to any religious document while gaining a public education. Anybody interested in the Ten Commandments or Christianity are welcome to learn about them in religious themed courses and at Sunday school at their church. There is NO reason to force the inclusion of the Ten Commandments except to dismantle the wall between Church and State. I am vehemently opposed to Ohio Senate Bill 34 and I’m demanding that our representatives oppose it as well. There is NO excuse for this bill except to force religion on students. History courses already discuss the other documents listed in this bill, and individual teachers often display important historical documents like the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution within their classrooms out of personal preference. Get out of our schools. Keep religion out of politics.
