Oppose HB10186: Stop Anti-Trans Bathroom Ban on Federal Property

I am writing in strong opposition to HB10186, which seeks to ban individuals from using restrooms and changing facilities on federal property unless they correspond to their sex assigned at birth. This bill is a direct attack on the safety, dignity, and rights of transgender and nonbinary people across the United States.
Trans people already face disproportionate harassment, violence, and exclusion—particularly in public spaces. This legislation would escalate those harms by enforcing invasive surveillance and policing of gender, effectively barring trans individuals from federal buildings, courthouses, parks, and other public services. It is a cruel and unnecessary attempt to legislate discrimination under the guise of “safety.”
Major medical and mental health organizations recognize that allowing trans people to use facilities that align with their gender identity is not only safe—it is essential to their health and well-being. This bill disregards both evidence and ethics in favor of political fearmongering.
I urge you to reject HB10186 and any legislation that promotes fear, exclusion, and state-sanctioned transphobia. Instead, please support laws that uphold the rights, dignity, and safety of all people—regardless of gender identity.
