Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to protect Medicare and Medicaid from the Republican plans to cut these programs in favor of extending tax cuts to the wealthy.
I should not have to even mention that Medicaid is a lifeline to economic and health security for around 80-million Americans.
It provides key funding for the doctors, hospital and community clinics that literally every county in every state rely on. Without it, or with the severe cuts being proposed, more rural hospitals may need to close, affecting these communities directly, and further contribute to medical debt and poverty.
The cuts will remove critical services from millions including seniors, children, and people with disabilities.
It’s also popular and considered one of the most cost-effective programs we have.
Oppose any and all cuts to Medicaid. Thank you.
