OPPOSE ATTACKS ON JUDICIAL INDEPENDENCE IN THE BUDGET BILL

Oppose any provision in the upcoming budget bill that seeks to curb the judiciary's power to enforce its own court orders. Specifically, I am deeply concerned about language that would prohibit federal courts from using appropriated funds to enforce contempt citations for failure to comply with injunctions or temporary restraining orders.
This is not a technicality; it is a direct and dangerous assault on the rule of law, the independence of our judiciary, and the foundational principle of checks and balances enshrined in our Constitution.
Such a provision would effectively neuter the courts, allowing individuals and government entities to defy judicial orders with impunity, particularly if a security bond has not been posted – a requirement often impossible for civil rights groups or individuals seeking justice.
Our courts are the bulwark against overreach by other branches of government and crucial for protecting the rights of all Americans. If court orders cannot be enforced, then justice itself becomes a suggestion, not a reality. This would set a perilous precedent, undermining accountability and empowering those who seek to disregard the law.
This provision has no place in a budget bill. It is a cynical attempt to weaken our democratic institutions and should be rejected unequivocally.
I urge you to vote NO on any budget bill that contains language limiting the judiciary's ability to enforce its orders. Publicly condemn this attack on judicial independence and the separation of powers. Work towards a budget that respects the integrity of our democratic institutions and prioritizes the well-being of all Americans, not political maneuvering.
The integrity of our legal system and the preservation of our constitutional republic depend on your commitment to upholding judicial independence. Please stand up for the rule of law and protect the ability of our courts to ensure justice.
