An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress

Restore and Strengthen Voting Rights Act Now

19 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

The legacy of Bloody Sunday and the civil rights movement is at stake due to the weakening of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The 2013 Supreme Court decision has led to the implementation of anti-voting laws, disproportionately affecting communities of color and widening the turnout gap between voters of color and white voters. It is crucial to restore and strengthen the Voting Rights Act, setting national minimum standards for election administration. This is not just about honoring the past, but about ensuring a fair and inclusive future. Therefore, the immediate passage of voting rights legislation is necessary. The consequences of weakened voting rights protections are too severe to ignore. The demand for change is clear and urgent.
