As a Navy Veteran and an American, I know that the executive order entitled "Prioritizing Military Excellence and Readiness" is harmful, hurtful, disrespectful, and hateful to the nearly 20,000 transgender troops currently serving in the military. This EO officially treats these servicemembers and trans veterans the way that Vietnam Veterans were treated when they returned home from war. Many Americans spit in these veterans' face- and that is exactly what this EO is doing to my fellow service members and veterans.
In 2017, 56 retired Generals signed a letter to then-President Trump in response to his Tweet that proposed to ban transgender troops in the military (https://palmcenterlegacy.org/fifty-six-retired-generals-admirals-warn-president-trumps-anti-transgender-tweets-implemented-degrade-military-readiness/). These Generals quoted multiple research studies and also their own personal experience with how banning trans troops would negatively impact military readiness. This information remains true and has not been disproven.
Please stand with me and those Generals and our transgender troops and veterans: let the White House know you will not stand for this disrespectful treatment of America's fighting force. Stand with us and fight to keep these necessary members of our military fighting to defend the US Constitution.
