Urgent Action: Demand Accountability for Caribbean Strikes

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I am profoundly alarmed and outraged by recent reports of lethal U.S. strikes on suspected drug vessels in the Caribbean. These actions, including a high-level order to kill everyone aboard a vessel and the follow-up execution of survivors, represent a shocking and unacceptable abuse of power and a fundamental violation of due process. Drug trafficking is a crime requiring legal investigation, trial, and conviction—not summary execution without judicial or congressional oversight. The rule of law, not a policy of instant death, must prevail. The reported escalation, resulting in numerous strikes and the deaths of at least 82 people, raises serious concerns about the legality and morality of our government's actions. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s embrace of "lethal, kinetic strikes" and the administration's apparent decision to bypass congressional approval are deeply disturbing. This conduct sets a dangerous precedent for extrajudicial killings and risks embroiling the U.S. in an unnecessary, undeclared conflict. I urge you, as my representative, to take immediate and forceful action: * Stop Future Strikes: Champion initiatives to immediately suspend these lethal strikes and mandate full congressional authorization for any similar military operations. * Ensure Robust Oversight: Demand that the Armed Services Committee inquiries be exhaustive, transparent, and swift, determining the full chain of command involved in authorizing these strikes. * Hold Individuals Accountable: Vigorously pursue measures to hold all individuals responsible for ordering or implementing these alleged unlawful actions fully accountable under the law, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and President Trump. No official is above the law. The American people deserve a government that respects due process, not one that unilaterally acts as judge, jury, and executioner. Your commitment to rigorous oversight and preventing future abuses is vital. I look forward to your urgent and public response detailing the specific actions you will take.
