Urgent Concern Re. Executive Branch Defiance of Supreme Court Order

I am writing as a deeply concerned constituent regarding the Trump administration’s apparent defiance of the Supreme Court’s unanimous ruling in the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
The Supreme Court unanimously ordered the administration to “facilitate” Mr. Abrego Garcia’s return to the United States after his unlawful deportation to El Salvador. Judge Paula Xinis found his detention “wholly lawless” with “no legal grounds whatsoever.”
Yet the administration is now claiming it has no duty to seek his return, effectively nullifying the Court’s order through an extremely narrow interpretation.
This situation represents a constitutional crisis, and an extremely serious one at that. When the executive branch can defy judicial orders without consequence, our system of checks and balances collapses. As Justice Sotomayor noted, they have “cited no basis in law” for their actions. They are defying a unanimous Supreme Court decision.
I urge you to use all oversight powers available to Congress to ensure the administration complies with the Supreme Court’s ruling. The integrity of our constitutional system depends on all three branches respecting their co-equal status and responsibilities.
Mr. Abrego Garcia—a husband and father with no criminal record—must be brought home in accordance with the law and court orders. His case represents a fundamental test of whether our constitutional protections extend to all people under U.S. jurisdiction.
I would appreciate knowing what specific actions you are taking to address this constitutional crisis. I have been deeply concerned for quite some time, but as of this weekend I am feeling fear creep in. This is not the America we are meant to be.
