Demand Immediate Un-Redaction of Epstein Files and Survivor Testimony

I am writing to demand immediate action on the unlawful redaction of the Epstein files, specifically the FBI 302 reports containing survivor testimony. The Department of Justice received files that had already been improperly scrubbed by the FBI in March, violating the Epstein Transparency Act authored by Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie. The DOJ was legally required to receive unredacted files and make its own determinations about what information should be protected. Instead, hundreds of FBI agents went through the files first, redacting material before transmission to DOJ. The DOJ then failed to un-redact these files as required by law. This process stripped the DOJ of its ability to fully review the evidence or restore critical information, including the accounts of abuse from survivors who named the rich and powerful men who raped them on Epstein's island or helped cover up these crimes. Currently, 70 to 80 percent of the FBI files remain redacted. The most significant redactions involve FBI 302 reports where victims identified their abusers. When Representatives Khanna and Massie presented incontrovertible evidence that six powerful men had been improperly shielded, DOJ officials acknowledged the problem. This suggests the redactions were designed to protect predators rather than survivors or legitimate national security interests. The survivors of these horrific crimes deserve to have their testimony heard and their abusers held accountable. The current redaction scheme denies them justice and perpetuates a two-tiered system where the wealthy and connected operate above the law. Income inequality is at a 60-year high, and workers have the lowest share of GDP in 75 years. Accountability for those who committed or enabled these crimes is where repair of our broken social contract must begin. I urge you to support efforts to compel the immediate un-redaction of survivor testimony in the Epstein files and to demand that DOJ officials comply with the law as written. These survivors have waited long enough for justice.
